Where to find abandoned tents fortnite - In Fortnite Chapter 3, tents can be a very useful new tool, but abandoned tents are a specific type of tent that you'll be on the lookout for to complete a Week 5 challenge. While these tents are scattered somewhat randomly, there are a few ways to increase the likelihood of finding an abandoned tent for yourself (and for that sweet, sweet XP). Here's where and how to find abandoned tents in Fortnite.
Abandoned tents Fortnite
While you can find a tent item scattered among other loot in Fortnite, an abandoned tent is different. These special tents actually belong to other players from previous rounds of Fortnite. They are not in your round, but their tents stay right where they left them.

You can see an abandoned tent because it will be completely gray, while the tents used by allies or enemies in your current round will have more vibrant colors like blue. You can claim any abandoned store as your own by approaching it and following the instructions. Just make sure it's gray, because if it isn't and doesn't belong to your team, it belongs to an enemy, and it might even be hiding within them.
Where to find abandoned tents in Fortnite
You have to calculate that thousands upon thousands of tents are being used every day in Fortnite, so it's not like all the tents placed by other players in other rounds will appear in your round, or else the map would be nothing more than a vast ocean of camping equipment. Therefore, you will want to consider a few factors when looking for abandoned tents, as their appearance in any round is semi-random.
Abandoned tents will rarely be seen alone
One thing we've found is that players like to place tents in groups, probably because squad players use them together, or maybe Epic just groups them from different rounds this way. This is useful because it often means that you can see a pack of abandoned tents from a distance.
Another thing to consider is that abandoned tents often appear off the beaten track. If you stay on the roads, you are not likely to find an abandoned store. More often, you will see them hidden deep in the forest, like the ones in the northwest quadrant of the map, or high in the mountains. They are also commonly found within Shifty Shafts, the mine shafts in the north-central part of the map.
It seems like each round includes a lot of abandoned tents, but the hard part is knowing that they can't be reliably found anywhere. However, if you keep an eye out for them clustering, especially in especially high or low areas of the map, you're more likely to find an abandoned shop to claim as your own, and get 25,000 XP in the process.
