Use 720p
If you like to play Fortnite on a TV screen, that's fine, but it's not the same as using the Switch's built-in screen. Mainly because you will probably see a drop in FPS rate. It can suit your enjoyment of gaming, but for quick editing, you will definitely face some issues. So go to TV settings on your Switch, located in the System Settings, and change your TV resolution from 1080p to 720p. You will immediately notice that your edits are much smoother.
Confirm change on exit
By default, Fortnite does not have the best editing options enabled. If you don't change this early in the Fortnite gaming experience, you'll find it hard to leave old tuning habits behind. If you are used to the default methods, you should change them as soon as possible so that you can quickly adapt to the new settings.
Start by launching Fortnite on your Nintendo Switch. Next, navigate to the game settings tab (found at the top of the Fortnite options screen). Next, scroll down to the Building section in the menu on the left. So if by any chance Commit Change on Post is disabled on your Switch, make sure to enable it. This setup means you won't have to press a button again to confirm each change you make. This will greatly improve your editing speed in Fortnite.

Change edit key
The default edit button in Fortnite was not assigned with quick editing in mind. Either that or the game designers didn't recognize the best possible option. Most Fortnite Switch pros, pro gaming YouTubers, and seasoned gamers will agree that the best key to edit is pressing the controller.
Changing this parameter is as easy as changing the key assignment. Simply go to the main options screen and navigate to the controller icon at the top of the screen. Next, select the left/right thumbstick and assign the Edit parameter to it. It will make you a much better and faster editor. Combined with edit confirmation on exit, using one of the joysticks to edit will make for a seamless experience. Keep in mind that it may take some getting used to, especially if you're used to the default settings.
