How to Reel Instagram over 60 seconds - After increasing the length of the reel from 15 to 30 seconds in September last year, Instagram now allows creators to upload clips of up to 60 seconds to the reel. The length extension comes at a time when Instagram has publicly acknowledged that it is no longer a photo-sharing app.

Instagram announced that creators can now record 60-second scrolls through their Twitter account using Galaxy brain memes since 2017. You can see the announcement tweet below, but honestly, there's not much to see there.

To make a reel longer than 30 seconds, you'll need to set the length of the video before you start recording it. To do so, open the reel recording interface by swiping right on the feed. Then tap the down arrow on the left or right side of the screen to see all the available options.

Once you've expanded the menu, double-tap the "Long" option. If you've already recorded the reel at 30 seconds, just tapping the Long button once will suffice. As shown below, you can now record a 60 second Instagram roll. If you change your mind, you can always tap the Duration button again to toggle between 15, 30, or 60 seconds.

While reels that extend video length to 60 seconds are good news for content creators, TikTok now allows users to upload videos up to 3 minutes long.
