ChatGPT requirements to work with Siri

1. Shortcut to Siri ChatGPT

Siri ChatGPT integration works via a convenient shortcut that will run on your iPhone. Therefore, you need to download Siri Shortcut. Called Siri Pro, the shortcut comes from YouTuber Tim Harris. Even though the shortcut is called Siri Pro, you can always rename it to whatever you want. To start, download Siri Pro (Get) Shortcut but haven't run it yet. Once downloaded, continue reading.

2. ChatGPT API key

In order to successfully use the ChatGPT service with Siri on your iPhone, you must use its API. The ChatGPT API key can be accessed via your OpenAI account. To find them, go to the OpenAI API Keys page and log in to your account. Here, you will see an option to "Generate a new secret key". Click to generate an API key to use with Siri Pro.

Once this is done, copy the OpenAI API key. Remember that you can't copy the same API key again, copy the key and close the popup box. So keep it in a safe place.
You can also open this website on your iPhone to generate an API key and copy it to your clipboard. If you don't have an OpenAI account, you can create one here then visit the link above.

Once Siri Shortcut Pro has been downloaded and the API key has been copied, it's time to run Siri Shortcut and see it in action:

  4. And that's it! ChatGPT is now integrated with Siri on your iPhone. You can request a shortcut by touching Siri Pro in the Shortcuts app or by saying Hi Siri and the name of the shortcut (Bro, Pro, or a title you rename yourself). As you can see below, I asked Siri ChatGPT to plan a two day trip to London, and the response was accurate.

However, be aware that the shortcut may not always work depending on the ChatGPT server load or may not work at all. However, in my experience, it works most of the time without issue.

Frequently asked questions

I followed all the steps above but the shortcuts are not giving any response. What do I have to do?
As mentioned above, the ability to run Siri ChatGPT on your iPhone depends on the current server load on the AI chatbot itself. If ChatGPT is overloaded, the shortcut will most likely not respond. Wait an hour or two and run the shortcut again.

Is this method available for Android?

Currently, ChatGPT for Siri is only available on iOS. Since it's based on the iPhone shortcuts app, we haven't come across a similar method for Android fans. However, rest assured, we will let you know if we run into anything.

The shortcut keeps telling me to add your API key first. What do I have to do?

As for the error, it means that you haven't added your ChatGPT API key correctly. Without this, the shortcut cannot communicate with the server.
